East Baton Rouge Parish EMS AED Registry Program
East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Service (EMS) is a municipal service that originated on August 6, 1982. Baton Rouge EMS is responsible for answering all 911 calls in the City of Baton Rouge and is the primary Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider for the parish of East Baton Rouge.
Louisiana Revised Statute 40:1137.3 states: “Any person or entity that possesses an AED shall notify a local provider of emergency medical services, such as a 911 service, local ambulance service, or fire department of the acquisition, location, and type of AED”. East Baton Rouge EMS is offering this AED Registry as a free community service to help AED owners and managers ensure compliance with the state law.
Organizations registering AEDs get the following free benefits:
- Online management of AED location and maintenance information
- AED battery and electrode date expiration email reminders
- Faster AED notifications from manufacturer and government agencies
- AED and SCA awareness-building materials
- Ability to participate in the AED Link system, where available
The East Baton Rouge EMS Training Division manages an American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center. The Training Center provides many American Heart Association classes including the Heartsaver Citizens CPR class, which is offered to the public on the third Thursday of the month from 6pm to 9pm.
